Former midfielder Rio Ferdinand has defended coach Mauricio Pochettino after PSG were eliminated from the 1/8 round of the Champions League. Kylian Mbappe’s goal in the 39th minute gave the French team a 1-0 lead. However, the scenario turned completely upside down after halftime.

Commenting to BT Sport, Ferdinand said: “I think the criticism against Pochettino is unfair considering the history of PSG. Many coaches have come here, won the national championship and failed in the Champions League. League.”.

Pochettino is under a lot of pressure. 

” It’s not the first time, it’s happened for many years. PSG with their seasoned, attacking stars, a bunch of big-name stars; they absolutely have a chance to win the league,” he said.

” I think the coach has to create a culture of not panic. This team has big egos; there are genuine superstar players. That’s part of the job of management ,” said Ferdinand.
