Guimaraes is about to become Newcastle’s third rookie
Newcastle have reached all agreements to recruit Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon.
Neither Newcastle nor Lyon have officially confirmed this deal. However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the two teams have closed all procedures related to the contract of Bruno Guimaraes.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, in order to get the services of Bruno Guimaraes, he had to pay Lyon 40 million euros. In addition, Newcastle can also pay an additional 8 million euros in variable fees, depending on the performance of the 24-year-old midfielder in the future.
Currently, Bruno Guimaraes is joining the Brazilian team for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. In the 1-1 draw with Ecuador this morning, the 24-year-old was given a break by coach Tite to prepare to complete his contract with Newcastle. Bruno Guimaraes was on the registration list but did not enter the field.
Right today, Newcastle will send a delegation to Brazil to check the medical for Bruno Guimaraes. The home team of St James’ Park will officially announce this deal after completing the medical examination procedure with the Brazilian player.
Thus, Bruno Guimaraes will leave Lyon after 2 years joining the team. Previously, the 24-year-old midfielder moved to the French team in January 2020 for 20 million euros from Athletico Paranaense. In addition to this fee, Athletico Paranaense also received an additional 20% of the total contract value of Bruno Guimaraes when Lyon sold the Brazilian midfielder.
On the side of Newcastle, Bruno Guimaraes is their third rookie in the winter transfer window of 2022. Before that, Chih Cho had spent more than 46 million euros to buy Wood and Trippier from Burnley and Atletico.
According to British media, with the goal of relegation, Newcastle will recruit at least one more rookie in this January transfer window to strengthen the force. Currently, Chich cho is ranked 18th on the Premier League table, with 1 point less than the safety group (15 compared to 16).
